Microscope and biological models – basic principles
How it works
The microscope is an optical device that greatly magnifies small objects, making details visible that cannot be seen with the naked eye. It usually consists of an eyepiece, objective lens, body tube, stand, stage and illumination. Biological models are simplified representations of organisms, organs or cells in order to better understand structures and functions. They help to make complex processes clear, but do not replace the observation of real specimens. The correct handling of the microscope and the understanding of models are important foundations of biology.
A microscope is used to make small structures visible by enlarging the image of an object with the help of lenses. Biological models serve to represent complex biological structures or processes in a simplified way in order to facilitate understanding.
