Perimeter of rectangle and square
How it works
The perimeter is the length of a figure's boundary. In a rectangle, opposite sides are equal. In a square, all four sides are equal.
Note
Rectangle: P = 2·(a + b); Square: P = 4·a.
Rectangle: P = 2·(a + b); Square: P = 4·a.
An example
A rectangle is 2 cm long and 7 cm wide. Determine the perimeter. Give the result in cm.
U = 2 · (a + b) = 2 · (2 + 7). Result: 18 cm.
