Flowering plants and basic organs – fundamentals

How it works

Flowering plants consist of various basic organs: root, stem, leaf and flower. Each organ performs specific tasks: The root anchors the plant in the soil and absorbs water as well as mineral nutrients. The stem supports leaves and flowers, transports water and nutrients. Leaves are responsible for photosynthesis and gas exchange. The flower serves reproduction and often contains stamens (male) and carpels (female). Flowering plants are adapted to different habitats and show a wide variety of forms.

Note
Flowering plants consist of four basic organs (root, stem, leaf, flower), each of which performs certain tasks for the plant’s survival and reproduction.
