Sphere and composite solids
How it works
A sphere has only one curved surface. For composite solids, volumes are added or cut-out parts subtracted. For surfaces, only the actually outer surfaces count.
Note
Sphere: V=4πr³/3; O=4πr²; Hemisphere with base: O=3πr².

An example
A sphere has radius 6 cm. Calculate the volume using π without intermediate rounding. Round to two decimal places. Give the result in cm³.
V = 4 π r³ : 3 = 4 · π · 6³ : 3. Result: 904.78 cm³.
