Compound future of common verbs in Russian
How it works
In Russian, the compound future (‹будущее сложное время›) is formed with a simple future form of ‹быть› and the infinitive of the main verb. This form is used to express future actions with imperfective verbs. For example: ‹Я буду читать› means “I will read”. The form agrees with person and number: ‹ты будешь писать› (you will write), ‹мы будем работать› (we will work). For perfective verbs, however, Russian uses a simple future form.
Note
The compound future is formed as follows: simple future form of ‹быть› + infinitive of an imperfective main verb. The form of ‹быть› depends on person and number.

An example
What is the Russian compound future for “they will play” (3st person plural, play = ‹играть›)?
The correct form is ‹они будут играть›: ‹они› (they, plural) + ‹будут› (3st person plural of the future form of ‹быть›) + ‹играть› (infinitive of play).
