Family, school and short original dialogues in Russian
How it works
In this topic area, students learn to understand and form simple Russian sentences and dialogues about family, school and everyday situations. They identify family members such as ‹мама› (mother), ‹папа› (father), ‹брат› (brother), ‹сестра› (sister) and basic school terms such as ‹школа› (school), ‹учитель› (teacher), ‹ученик› (student). They practice formulating questions and answers in short dialogues, e.g. ‹Как тебя зовут?› (What is your name?) or ‹Где твоя школа?› (Where is your school?). The aim is to exchange simple information correctly and recognize key vocabulary in context.
For simple statements about family and school, use the base form of the noun often, e.g. in ‹Это моя мама.› or ‹Это мой брат.›. Make sure that possessive pronouns and nouns match: ‹мой брат›, ‹моя сестра›, ‹наш учитель›, ‹наша учительница›. In neutral simple sentences, word order is often subject – predicate – object, but in Russian it can vary depending on what is being said.
