Growth and compound interest
How it works
With constant percentage growth, each new value is multiplied by the same factor. Compound interest accounts for interest already credited being reinvested.
Note
N(t) = N₀·q^t; q = 1 + p / 100; decrease q = 1 − p / 100.
N(t) = N₀·q^t; q = 1 + p / 100; decrease q = 1 − p / 100.
An example
A quantity of 500 grows annually by 5 %. What is its size after 4 years? Round to two decimal places. Give only the requested number.
Growth factor q=1+5/100. N=500·q^4. Result: 607.75.
