Exam practice: Dialogues and appropriate responses
How it works
In this topic, you practise how to respond appropriately in English in various everyday situations. This includes recognising the conversation partner’s intention and choosing a suitable reply. For example, a different response may be given to an invitation, a suggestion, or an apology. One example: To ‹Would you like to join us for lunch?› you reply politely with ‹Thank you, I'd love to.› or ‹Sorry, I already have plans.›. Choosing the correct response shows that you have understood the context and can communicate appropriately.
Choose the answer that best fits the situation and the speaker’s statement. Pay attention to politeness, context, and the intention of the utterance.
