Exam practice: recognize errors and correct them with justification

How it works

In this topic area, you learn to recognize and correct typical errors in English sentences. These include grammar errors (e.g. wrong tense forms, subject-verb agreement), word order errors, incorrect prepositions, or confusions between similar words. You do not just have to identify the error, but also know how to исправить it correctly. Example: In the sentence ‹He go to school every day.› the ending -es is missing from the verb for the third person singular. The correct form is ‹He goes to school every day.›. Recognizing and justifying such errors helps you write and speak English more confidently yourself.

Note
Look in the sentence for typical sources of error such as incorrect verb forms, missing endings, incorrect prepositions, or word choice. Consider which rule was violated, and choose the correct correction.

An example

Which of the following sentences is correct: ‹She doesn’t like apples.› or ‹She don’t like apples.›?

‹She doesn’t like apples.› is correct because in negations in ‹Simple Present› the verb stands in the infinitive.
