Quadratic functions
How it works
A quadratic function forms a parabola. In vertex form, the vertex and the opening can be seen directly. A negative a opens the parabola downward.
Note
f(x)=a(x−h)²+k; Vertex S(h|k).
f(x)=a(x−h)²+k; Vertex S(h|k).
An example
For f(x)=4(x−(1))²+(3): Determine f(-1). Give only the requested number.
Difference=-1−(1)=-2. Square, multiply by 4 and add 3. Result: 19.
