Binomial formulas and terms
How it works
Binomial formulas are shortcuts for products of sums and differences. The middle term 2ab is often forgotten in the square of a sum.
Note
(a+b)²=a²+2ab+b²; (a−b)²=a²−2ab+b²; (a+b)(a−b)=a²−b².
(a+b)²=a²+2ab+b²; (a−b)²=a²−2ab+b²; (a+b)(a−b)=a²−b².
An example
In the expanded term (x+5)²: What is the coefficient before x? Give only the requested number.
(x+5)²=x²+2·5·x+25. Coefficient: 10. Result: 10.
