CLASS 8 · LEARNING KNOWLEDGE
Poetry and stylistic devices – basic principles
How it works
Poetry is a literary genre characterized by condensed language, rhythm, and often rhyme. Stylistic devices such as metaphors, similes, alliterations, anaphora, or personifications are used deliberately to create feelings, images, and moods. Understanding these devices helps to interpret poems and recognize their effect. Lyrical texts are often subjective and use figurative language to express thoughts and emotions.
Note
Stylistic devices are deliberate linguistic forms and figures used in lyrical texts to achieve particular effects. They can intensify sound, imagery, emphasis, or meaning.
