Foreign words and semantic relationships – basic principles
How it works
Foreign words are words that have been adopted into German from other languages. Some can still be recognized by their spelling or pronunciation, while others have already been more strongly adapted in German. Semantic relationships describe how words are related in meaning, for example as synonyms, antonyms, or as superordinate and subordinate terms. Word families are to be distinguished from this: they connect words through a common word stem.
Note
Recognize foreign words and infer their meaning in context; distinguish and apply semantic relationships such as synonymy, antonymy, and superordinate/subordinate terms; recognize word families separately through the common word stem.
