Slope and equation of a line
How it works
From two different x-values, the slope is calculated as change in y divided by change in x. Then a point is substituted to find b.
Note
m=(y₂−y₁)/(x₂−x₁); b=y₁−m·x₁.
m=(y₂−y₁)/(x₂−x₁); b=y₁−m·x₁.
An example
A line passes through A(-3|3) and B(-1|3). Determine the slope. Give only the requested number.
m=(3−(3)):(-1−(-3))=0:2. Result: 0.
