Fables, legends, and poems – basic principles

How it works

Fables are short, instructive narratives in which animals usually have human characteristics and convey a moral. Legends are folk tales that often combine real places or events with fantastic elements. Poems are literary texts with a special form, often with rhyme, rhythm, and figurative language. Each type of text has typical features and functions.

Note
Recognize and distinguish the features and functions of fables, legends, and poems on the basis of language, structure, and content.
