Linear functions
How it works
A linear function has a constant increase. The slope m describes the increase of y when x increases by 1. The intercept b is the function value at x=0.
Note
y=m·x+b; zero at x=−b/m for m≠0.
y=m·x+b; zero at x=−b/m for m≠0.
An example
For f(x)=13x−9: Calculate f(-2). Give only the number sought.
Substitute x=-2: 13·(-2)−9. Result: -35.
