Triangles, trapezoid and angles
How it works
The area of a trapezoid is the average length of the parallel sides times the height. Angles on a straight line add up to 180°. In right-angled triangles, one angle is already 90°.
Note
Trapezoid: A = (a + c) · h / 2; Adjacent angles: α + β = 180°.
Trapezoid: A = (a + c) · h / 2; Adjacent angles: α + β = 180°.
An example
A trapezoid has parallel sides of 5 cm and 2 cm and a height of 3 cm. Calculate the area. Give the result in cm².
A=(a+c)·h:2=(5+2)·3:2. Result: 10.5 cm².
