Inverse proportional assignments
How it works
In inversely proportional assignments, the product remains constant. If twice as many equally capable people work, the required time for the same work halves.
Note
x·y=k; y=k/x.
x·y=k; y=k/x.
An example
9 equally fast pumps need 32 hours. How long do 36 pumps need for the same work? Give the result in h.
Pump rate·time remains constant: 9·32:(36). Result: 8 h.
