Discount and Price Changes
How it works
In a decrease, the percentage value is subtracted from the base value; in an increase, it is added. Consecutive changes each refer to the new value.
Note
New price = old price · (1 ± p / 100).
New price = old price · (1 ± p / 100).
An example
A jacket costs 480 €. There is a 20 % discount. What is the new price? Give the result in €.
Number factor = 1 − 20 / 100 = 4 / 5. New price = 480 · 4 / 5. Result: 384 €.
