Rational Numbers and Signs
How it works
Rational numbers can be represented as fractions and can be positive or negative. For products and quotients, the same signs yield a positive result, different signs a negative result.
Note
(+ )·(+ )=+; (−)·(−)=+; (+)·(−)=−.
(+ )·(+ )=+; (−)·(−)=+; (+)·(−)=−.
An example
Calculate (−6) · (−11). Provide only the requested number.
Same signs give plus. Absolute value: 6·11. Result: 66.
