Substances and objects – understanding the basics
How it works
Substances are materials with certain properties. Objects are things with a shape and often a use; they consist of one or more substances. Substances can be pure substances or mixtures and have characteristics such as colour, smell, hardness, density or state of matter.
Note
First ask: Is it about the substance or about the object? The shape belongs to the object. Properties such as density, smell, boiling point or state of matter belong to the substance. An object can consist of one substance or of several substances.
