Triangle and parallelogram

How it works

The height stands perpendicular to the chosen base. A parallelogram can be rearranged into a rectangle of equal area. A triangle is half the size of the corresponding parallelogram.

Note
Triangle: A = g·h/2; Parallelogram: A = g·h.

An example

A triangle has a base of 4 cm and a perpendicular height of 8 cm. Calculate the area. Give the result in cm².

A=g·h:2=4·8:2. Result: 16 cm².
