Multiplying and dividing fractions

How it works

When multiplying, numerator and denominator are each multiplied. Division by a fraction is multiplication by its reciprocal. Prior simplification makes the calculation easier.

Note
(a/b)·(c/d)=ac/bd; (a/b):(c/d)=ad/bc.

An example

Calculate (19/20) · 12 as a decimal number. Provide only the requested number.

Multiply the numerator by 12: 228/20. Result: 11.4.
