Biodiversity and Sustainability – Basic Principles
How it works
Biodiversity encompasses the diversity of life on three levels: species diversity, genetic diversity and diversity of ecosystems. It is crucial for stable, resilient ecosystems and for the supply of resources to humans. Sustainability means using resources in such a way that they are also available to future generations. The protection of biodiversity is a central aspect of sustainable action, because the loss of species and habitats can disrupt ecological balances.
Note
